Lucy has the most tender of hearts, and is hungry for love. Yet, her time in the puppy mill has caused terrible damage to this sensitive soul. She is changing for the better every day, but it is likely that her progress will be slow, and she needs someone who understands where she has been and how to bring her to a fuller, happier life.
In the 6 months she has been in her current foster home, she has made notable progress; she has been warming up to people who live there, and Lucy will now willingly take treats out of people's hands and sit on the couch next to familiar people. However, loud noises and sudden commotion are still very difficult for her. If you adopt Lucy, please keep in mind that she won't warm up to you overnight; developing trust takes time, but it will be well worth the effort.
The best home for Lucy would be a home with those who understand her needs. Although older children should be fine, younger children (under 10 who may be less sensitive to Lucy's needs) may not be a good fit. Lucy is spayed, healthy, walks nicely on a leash, and does well with housetraining if taken out regularly.
Please open your hearts and give this sweet girl a forever home!
