Adopting a friend for life...

site_alfie

Alfie
Spent his life tied on a chain in a back yard.

Please note that our adoption process is very strict and all of the stated requirements must be met.  The adoption process takes an Average of 4 weeks to complete.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 We require verifiable veterinary references. We will not adopt to any family or person who cannot provide a VET REFERENCE.  This means you have to have had an animal in your care - one that YOU were responsible for.  Many of our dogs come from abusive and/or neglected pasts, and we do our best to ensure they will have a home that will understand the special needs of these animals.  WE DO NOT ADOPT TO FIRST TIME PET OWNERS OR TO HOMES THAT CAN NOT PROVIDE THE REQUIRED VETERINARY REFERENCE.  Often, the only objective and impartial information we have in order to make a good decision for the dogs and the applicants is a veterinary reference.

site_bayou

Bayou
Only 2 years old, Bayou was in terminal liver failure due to untreated lyme disease. Read his story on our site - The Swamp Boys

site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 If renting your home, we require written permission from your landlord or a copy of your lease, stating that pets are allowed.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 A visit to your home prior to adoption is always a requirement.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 We require a minimum of two references (other than your vet).
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 The application must be filled out completely.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 All animals will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, unless medical needs prohibit. If an animal needs to be spayed/neutered after adoption, a spay/neuter contract (with a refundable deposit) must be completed.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 All animals will be adopted in the New England/Northeast area only (RI, CT, MA, NH, VT, ME, NY, PA, NJ). Any transportation costs will be covered by adopting families. WE DO NOT SHIP OUR DOGS.

site_tater

Tater
Hit by a car, poor tater suffered horrible, painful injuries. Thanks to JATR he got the surgeries he needed to heal.

site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 We reserve the right to deny an adoption to any home for any reason
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 An adoption donation is mandatory.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 You must be at least 25 years old.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 Special considerations will be made for families experienced with special needs and abused animals.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 Just a Touch Rescue is NOT a shelter. At this time, there is no facility that you can visit.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 Just a Touch Rescue does everything in its power to discover and treat any pre-existing medical conditions or illnesses, but cannot guarantee the health of an individual animal, post adoption.

site_ella

Ella
Sweet and loving, Ella was found abandoned in a park.

site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 Our adoption donation amounts are subject to change depending on the dog and/or situation.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 Our adoption donation amounts vary based on many factors, but usually range from $300 to $500 for most of our dogs (CLICK HERE to see why).
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 We do not make "deals," adopt dogs to the highest bidders, or give discounts just because you are a great person.  We pay for medical treatment, spaying, neutering, vaccinations, physicals, medications, and emergency surgeries and procedures.  Sometimes we have to pay fees just to get the dogs released to our care.   We do not make a profit, and our funds  are always tight and we are usually in the "red" with vet bills that need to be paid.   However, in some cases (dogs with special needs, seniors, etc.) we may lower adoption donation amounts.  All of our funding comes from donations.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 If you have any questions, please Contact Us for more information.
site_clipart_animals_dogs_024 If you are considering adopting one of our dogs rescued from a puppy mill, please go to the Puppy Mill Survivor page to read about typical puppy mill survivor traits and issues.
