Sir Digby -- Saturday June 4th, 2011
I would like to introduce you to Sir Digby! Sir Digby (called T Rex by his foster family) was rescued from a back yard breeder. At 12 weeks old he was scheduled to be euthanised because of severe bends in the bones of his front legs.
Many many people heard about Sir Digby and worked very hard to get him into Just A Touch Rescue! A volunteer pilot, Mike, with Pilots and Paws flew Sir Digby to his first stop over on his long trip to rescue. Sir Digby then took a very long car ride to end up with us. Sir Digby has been evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. Basically his elbows are positioned upside down! This means that he walks (and runs and plays) on the sides of his front feet. Check out his picture below. His videos can be seen here http://s184.photobucket.com/albums/x188/SpoiledRoyals/Friends/Pugsley/?action=view¤t=SDV_0390.mp4 The surgeon feels Sir Digby has a very good chance to walk on the pads of his feet. So, we will be doing surgery on one of his legs on May 26th. Once the first leg is healed, he will need surgery on his other front leg.
As you can see in his videos, Sir Digby has NO idea that he has any issues at all! He LOVES everyone he meets, runs, plays, and gives kisses like any normal puppy. Every single person that has met him smiles! He brings joy with him, and you can see he made his first foster mommy very giggly .
While he is doing fantastic, without these surgeries this babies life span will be shortened. He would be looking at early onset severe arthritis, possible spinal injuries, and sores on his limbs. Just A Touch Rescue wants to do everything we can to give this little guy a chance at a long and healthy life. Can you please help us help Sir Digby and others like him?
